Our Emergency Services department is comprised of two primary services, both mandated by Congressional Charter.

Armed Forces Emergency Services (AFES) and Disaster Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

AFES
AFES works with local military families to assist in matters concerning life, death, birth, illness and financial emergencies. During the past year, 180 cases for emergency communications and financial assistance were opened. Approximately 60 people, military personnel and their families, participated in the "Get to Know Us Before You Need Us" program

Disaster Services
Disaster Services has more than 100 trained volunteers who are on call in the event of a local or national disaster. Three Disaster Action Teams provided 11 canteens, serving approximately 2,300 drinks and snacks to emergency personnel.

In addition to providing these families with vital Red Cross services, we issued 96 referrals for client services through other local helping agencies. Seven local volunteers served on national disaster assignments.
