American Red Cross Hires New Health & Safety Director

GASTONIA, N.C., June 3, 2004 -- The Gaston County Chapter of the American Red Cross announces the hiring of new Director of Health and Safety, Ann Holt. Holt, a long-time volunteer with the Red Cross, is originally from Maine, but has lived in Gastonia for two years.

Prior to moving to the Carolinas, Holt lived in various regions across the country, including Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she began her stint as a Red Cross volunteer.

"I became a First Aid and CPR Instructor for the Red Cross and knew I always wanted to remain an active volunteer wherever I lived," Hold stated. "Coming to the Red Cross to work is like coming home and I am thankful for the opportunity to make a difference."

"I am very excited to have Ann join our staff team. She brings great skills and experience to this position, and her dedication to saving lives clearly drives her commitment to our mission," stated executive director Chuck Bridger. "Gaston County gains a valuable asset with Ann's new leadership role with the American Red Cross. I encourage folks in the community to stop by to meet her, or call to hear how we can work together to prepare for life's emergencies."
