At the Gaston County Chapter, we realize the importance of youth involvement.

Our Explorer Post for youth ages 14-18 provides youth volunteer activities and leadership skill building activities. We also boast a youth Clown-Around Troupe that travels to pre-schools, daycares and libraries teaching basic first aid and safety to children.

Two youth representatives are non-voting members of our chapter’s board of directors. Other youth activities include: providing holiday meals for a local fire family, an Easter Egg Hunt and parties at local rest homes.

Heather Jenkins, a past Youth Explorer Post president, is the first youth volunteer to be named to the NC Red Cross State Service Council

The youth designed and built the Chapter’s booth for the Community Foundation’s “Run for the Money 3”. The theme of the 2005 event was “Buck goes to the Movies” and our youth chose “Forest Gump”.
